Twenty-eight years in the United States Army. Retired at Sergeant Major. Then a second career doing the thing he'd been doing in the margins the whole time — writing songs and playing them for anybody who'd sit still.

Travis writes Texas Americana in the tradition of Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt and Merle Haggard: plain language, real places, and a turn you don't see coming until it's already landed. No backwards ballcaps. No bedazzled jeans.

Six songs have charted on Texas music and Americana radio, each holding airplay for twenty weeks or longer, with "How Can I Miss Her" peaking at No. 2. Streams across Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, iHeart, Amazon and YouTube have passed a million.

The stripes come in handy on stage, too. Travis works a crowd the way a good sergeant major works a formation — he can read a room in about thirty seconds and knows exactly who's not having a good time yet.
